A better video chat starts with a few small checks

You do not need studio lighting or a fancy webcam. A clear picture, understandable audio, and a little patience are usually enough.

Put the light in front of you

A window behind you can turn your face into a silhouette. Face the window instead, or use a nearby lamp. Keep the camera around eye level if you can. Check the background for personal details before you connect.

Allow the camera and microphone

Your browser needs permission to use both in video chat. If you accidentally blocked them, open the site-permissions menu near the address bar and change the setting, then reload. If another app is using the camera, close it and try again.

Use headphones if the sound echoes

Speakers can feed the other person’s voice back into your microphone. Headphones usually make this easier to avoid. Also check that the browser is using the microphone you intended, especially if you have connected a headset.

Searching is different from connecting

Searching means you are waiting for an available video user. Connecting means a partner has been found and the devices are setting up the call. If you are the only person searching, there is nobody to connect to yet.

A partner connection can also fail because of network restrictions. Camzuno currently uses direct peer connections; not every pair of networks can connect successfully. Retrying may help, but it is not a guarantee.

Have a backup

If you do not want to troubleshoot your camera right now, choose text chat without a camera. If your video is ready, open video chat and start with a simple hello.
